    Getting Around - Bruges

    - Flying to Brugge -

    There is no airport in Brugge so you are best to use other major international airports nearby:

  • Brussels Airport (BRU) is approximately 90km from the centre of Bruges. From Brussels you can get a train or drive.
  • Charleroi Airport (CRL) is 46km south of Brussels (approx 130km from Bruges) This airport is mostly used by the budget airlines. There are regular trains to Brussels and on to Bruges:
  • 1. Bruxelles (Gare du Midi) Train station has regular trains to Brugge.
    2. Charleroi Sud Train station has trains to Brugge.

    - Driving to Bruges by Car -

    Distances from Brugge to: Brussels 90km (55 miles) Ghent 46km (28 miles) Antwerp 92km (57 miles) Ostend 24km (37 miles). The centre of Brugge has many narrow streets and one-way systems which are best avoied by car if possible. The best thing is to park the car as soon as possible and explore the city on foot. There is a large underground car park near the train station, you have to pay to park the car here, but it's close to the city centre and it's an easy spot to park the car.

    - Trains to Bruges -

    There are regular trains from the following cities, journey time in brackets Brussels (1hr) Antwerp (1hr) Ghent (30mins) Ostend (15mins) Zeebrugge (15mins) You could also get a train to and from Lille (France) which connects with Eurostar trains going through the Channel Tunnel from London to Paris and Brussels.
