My wife and I have been to Bruges some seven times and this is one of the only two locations we would choose for an Hotel. Good underground garage and easy to find Hotel in a confusing road system. Good breakfast dining. More than adequate rooms, quiet, excellent restaurants nearby for other meals. Only reason I only gave a three for facilities is small bar and sitting area and I have to balance it against the American style Park Plaza where I have also stayed over a Christmas. I chose the Academie for location and price but had already checked it out on a previous trip. Good value and a good Hotel, you wont be dissapointed. Use the free Hotel map for finding your way around.

The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk from the train station. The walk through the park is nice and its quite easy to find the hotel. If you leave the park on Kateliinstraat, go left for about 5 mins and the hotel is down a side street on the left just past the Ibis hotel
Top Tip
If you go for the German markets remember that things close down early.
There are a few good restaurants very close to this hotel just turn left out of the front door and walk along the street less than 100 mts

Good Hotel with a good atmosphere. Let down ocassionally by poor staff attitude. Had to chase for Room Service. Does not mean that I would not recommend. Suggest it needs better explanation of using the underground Car Park which you cannot get into until you have checked in but there is No where immediately available to Park to be able to check in.
Top Tip
Good Restaurants immediately in the area, Recommend the Maximillian which faces towrads the Lake of Love. Care if travelling to the Hotel at a weekend as many of the side streets are closed off to Cars for the many Street Markets.

Everything was just superb. We also booked the underground car park which was an added facility.

You must make the canal boat trip and also climb the Belfort tower! All restaurants are good and there are plenty of places to have a coffee or cup of tea.

I asked for a non-smoking room and was placed in a room where I found a cigarette in the toilet bowl and ash on the seat, and a putrid smell of stale smoke. Although the staff are excellent, the location is very practical, and the underground car park is a bonus, the general cleanliness of the hotel left a lot to be desired.

The location was excellent but the hotel room was far from 4 star! It was very dated and the air con didn't work. The toilet was separate from the bath and sink.Next time I'd go for the Ibis or Novotel around the corner. The breakfast was good.
Top Tip
If you have a car with a top box you won't be able to park in the hotel's underground car park as it's too low!
