Within walking distance of Rail Station and a very pleasant walk along one of the many canals lined with trees and picturesque views. I got my camera out before i reached the hotel. Breakfast was enjoyable with varied options to suit all tastes. Receptionist i had was very friendly and welcoming. From a single travellers point of view could not have asked for more. Even able to smoke outside in private courtyard with a water feature, lighting and seating.

Well i walked a lot but did visit the centre and did the shops as well as some of the outskirts. Use the map and walk down some of the smaller streets for some interesting finds. Especially on the way to see the windmills. Bar Republik on St Jacobs Str is great place with food and outdoor seating. If you want to splash out a little on great food and wine go to www.Malpertuss-voske.be (the fox i think) its in Markt (main sq). Inside Church of our lady is also good as is the bell tower. Although i wanted to climb the 333 steps to the top only a certain number at a time is allowed so you may not want to wait if limit time in Brugge. Of course there is also Chocs.. seek out the "Chocolate Line" well established and so good!5*. Oh and i did get a little bitten by mossies so beware!

short walk to the market square, in a quiet street, but not too far from the station either. Good price, food and staff.
Top Tip
some nice restaurants nearby, the chargrill place and the fondue ones looked good - although did not have chance to try them out.

Perfectly placed for the main attractions of Brugge and the underground parking is a bonus.
Top Tip
The Halve Man brewery is just around the corner and has to be visited at least once on your visit.

Comment
Seemed less friendly than last year. Breakfast room was very crowded - symptomatic of strict service times. Room small and only natural light from an air con service column. Initial price quote from agent inconsistent too.
Top Tip
There is a wide choice of local and global hotel brands so do your research. Beware extra charges for replenishing tea/coffee.
Canal and horse/trap trips romantic. Eating in markt is expensive. It will be what you make it.

My wife and I have been to Bruges some seven times and this is one of the only two locations we would choose for an Hotel. Good underground garage and easy to find Hotel in a confusing road system. Good breakfast dining. More than adequate rooms, quiet, excellent restaurants nearby for other meals. Only reason I only gave a three for facilities is small bar and sitting area and I have to balance it against the American style Park Plaza where I have also stayed over a Christmas. I chose the Academie for location and price but had already checked it out on a previous trip. Good value and a good Hotel, you wont be dissapointed. Use the free Hotel map for finding your way around.
